Classical Music

Great Wedding Entertainment represent many top Wedding Harpists, String Quartets and other fine classical acts available to add class and sophistication to your ceremony or reception.

STRING QUARTETS

If you have a preference we represent all Male, all Female and mixed String Quartets.

THE GWE STRING DUO, TRIO & QUARTET
(Duo: Two Violins, Trio: Violin, Viola & Cello.)

The GWE quartet is the String Quartet with a difference. Its unrivalled classical to contemporary repertoire, equally at home playing Bach, Mozart, Gershwin, Oasis and Blur, makes us the ideal complement to any occasion. With a fully professional approach, backed by over 20 years of experience, and that comes at a price to suit every pocket.

Having now performed at over one thousand weddings in its eighteen-year history, they have the experience and expertise to provide for so important an event. They understand that this is your special day, and that our music will add that finishing touch to create the perfect atmosphere of a truly wonderful occasion.

The quartet’s uniquely extensive repertoire stretches from Vivaldi to the Verve. An entirely classical approach is often popular, as is a preference for completely modern pop and rock music. A mixture of all styles, from Baroque through Opera, Jazz and Musicals to recent hits is also available. You will almost certainly find that favourite number to make your wedding truly personal, but in the unlikely event that your tune is not already in our playlist, we can arrange it especially for the occasion.

If you require the quartet to play for your ceremony, they can give you specialist advice on the music to be played while your guests are assembling, the bride’s entrance, the signing of the register and the recessional. If you have chosen to have a traditional church wedding, we also have the ability to accompany hymns you may have selected.

The GWE String Quartet can also work as a Duo or Trio but are only able to cover classical music in these line-ups.

CLASSICAL GUITARISTS

We also represent many classical guitarists. They are a great alternative to a harpist and are able to move from one location to another quickly!

EDWARD
Edward studied classical guitar with the late George Clinton. He gave his first recital when he was 16 at Burgh House.  He soon diversified and became a leading exponent of Flemenco guitar. Since moving to Brighton in 1970 Edward has become a well-known teacher of both Classical and Flemenco guitar.  He taught for over 20 years at the University of Brighton and now teaches at Roedean and St. Aubyns.  Edward has frequently performed both styles of guitar and in 1994 recorded his first CD playing recorder duets with Galina Mendes.

He has also written three teaching books covering styles of guitar from Classical and Romantic through to Folk and Blues. He has played at many venues including the Royal Pavilion and the Grand Hotel in Brighton.
